A Bradley County man wanted for slugging a deputy in the face has been arrested, Sheriff Eric Watson said.

A local resident spotted David Paul Kadlec, 46, near a trailer park on Peakland Road near Oak Grove Road in Meigs County about noon on Saturday, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The resident told officers Kadlec was in the process of burglarizing a residence. The resident chased and subdued Kadlec and called 911, Watson said.

Meigs County deputies soon arrived and placed Kadlec under arrest, according to Chris Hill of the Meigs County Sheriff’s Department. He then was transported to the Bradley County Jail.

The initial incident happened March 14 when officers were trying to arrest Kadlec on a charge of violating probation. He punched Deputy Tiffany Goodwin and ran into the woods near the Bradley-Meigs line.

Kadlec is charged with violating probation, resisting arrest, aggravated assault and criminal trespassing in Bradley County. Authorities in Meigs County also want to charge him with burglary, Watson said.
