Cabela’s announced today plans to celebrate the official grand opening of its new Fort Oglethorpe store on Wednesday, May 13, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a weekend-long celebration featuring giveaways, family activities and more, according to a news release.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, hosted by Cabela’s executives and special guests, will begin at 9:45 a.m. and conclude with the grand-opening ribbon being cut by an arrow shot from a bow by a local Cabela’s employee, the release stated. Doors will open for business at 10 a.m.

Opening day will kick off an exciting weekend-long celebration highlighted by special appearances, family events, giveaways and more, the release said. A complete schedule of events will be available on www.cabelas.com/fortoglethorpe when finalized.

The store is located at 350 Cobb Parkway off Exit 353 of Interstate 75 in a development currently anchored by Costco. Cabela’s has employed approximately 200 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees to staff the 72,000-square-foot store, most coming from Fort Oglethorpe and the surrounding area.

It will be Cabela’s third location in Georgia, joining the 42,000-square-foot Augusta location opened in March 2014 and the 100,000-square-foot Acworth store opened in August 2014.

The store is designed to surround customers in a fun, outdoor-like experience with log construction, stonework, a large mountain replica, aquarium, indoor archery range, dozens of museum-quality wildlife displays and natural, outdoor sounds. Also, it will include a deli, fudge shop, Gun Library and Bargain Cave.

The store’s staff will also offer educational seminars and demonstrations throughout the year providing tips and insight on outdoor products and activities, the release said.
