An early morning Ooltewah house fire resulted in $70,000 in damage and a search for two dogs, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department.
Firefighters from Chattanooga and the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department answered the call to 5421 School Street around 5:20 a.m. Sunday. Fire companies found heavy smoke and fire at the front of the residence.
Battalion Chief Jeff Eldridge said firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, and damaged was focused on the front area of the structure.
The residents were not home and no human injuries were reported, but their two dogs were nowhere to be found, fire department Bruce Garner said.
Capt. Anthony Moore with the Fire Investigation Division said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
