The Walker County Chamber of Commerce has named Lacey Wilson as the organization's new president.

Wilson, a Rossville native, began her new position last week after working for more than eight years in marketing and public relations. Most recently, she was marketing manager for Blood Assurance, a regional nonprofit blood center headquartered in Chattanooga.

Wilson served on the Chamber's board of directors for two years before being selected by the presidential search committee and approved by the executive board of directors to fill the role.

Wilson succeeds Stephanie Snodgrass, who resigned last fall after accepting being named chief of the Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce in Georgia. Glenda Jones, director of programs and events, has served as the interim president for the Walker County Chamber.

"We are pleased to welcome Lacey to the Chamber and feel that her prior experience and education made her the ideal candidate for this position," said Melissa Roden, chairwoman of the Walker Chamber's board of directors.

Wilson is a 2006 graduate of the University of West Georgia, where she earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications. In 2014, Wilson received a master's degree in public relations from Kent State University. She is currently the president of the Public Relations Society of America -- Lookout Chapter and was named as one of the University of West Georgia's "30 Under 30" by the UWG Alumni Association in 2013.

Before her role as marketing manager at Blood Assurance, Wilson served as the organization's public relations representative and worked in marketing at the Chattanooga campus of the University of Phoenix.
