‘ Project: Sale Creek Volunteer Fire and Rescue, an all-volunteer department that provides emergency services to about an 82-square mile area in northwest Hamilton County, is getting a new headquarters fire station.

‘ Location: 14705 Dayton Pike in Sale Creek.

‘ Investment: $4.2 million, funded by Hamilton County.

‘ General contractor: Evans Alley Construction, Clinton, Tenn.

‘ Construction timeline: Work started June 15 and should end by May 1, 2016.

‘ Time for a change: The new fire station and headquarters will replace the current headquarters, which architect Ronny Rahn said “is basically not much more than six residential garages attached to an old house. Rahn, principal architect for the architectural firm Michael Brady, Inc., designed the new facility.

‘ Amenities: The 27,484- square-foot building will have administrative offices, a training and community room, residential quarters, staff bunk, a decontamination room and bays that will handle up to 10 types of fire apparatus.

‘ Built for the future: The new station should serve the fire department for at least 50 years, Rahn said. “Their plan is to grow into this.”
