› Who can enter: Any elementary school student in grades first through fifth. One entry per child.› Deadline: Entries must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20.› Grand prize: The winner will receive an arts package and a goody bag from co-sponsors ArtsBuild and Chattanooga’s Kids on the Block and a cash prize of $25.› Entry format: Use an 8 1/2-by 11-inch piece of unlined paper. Entry should have the child’s name, age, address, telephone number, grade and school printed on the back. The past couple of years have been a family affair in the Chattanooga Times Free Press Holiday Wrapping Paper Contest.
Two Signal Mountain sisters have won the contest back-to-back – Callan Williams in 2013 and Britton Williams in 2014.
But it’s a new year and, starting today, the contest is wide-open again. Elementary school students are eligible and the winning entry will end up as a real sheet of wrapping paper in the Times Free Press on Sunday, Dec. 6. The winning design also will be available at Hamilton Place mall in Kids on the Block gift-wrapping stations from Dec. 6 through Christmas Eve.
In addition, the winner will receive an arts package and a goody bag from co-sponsors ArtsBuild and Chattanooga’s Kids on the Block and a cash prize of $25.
The top 10 entries will be on display at the Creative Discovery Museum.
Former contest judges offer this piece of advice: Make small designs that repeat themselves because they’ll look good whether the present is big or small.
The contest is open to students in grades 1-5. Entries must be received by the Times Free Press by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20.
Readers will also get to pick their favorite design through online voting that runs from Tuesday, Nov. 24, through Wednesday, Dec. 2.
