Parents in Chattanooga without enough money to buy gifts for their children this Christmas can apply for help from Chattanooga’s Forgotten Child Fund.

Last year, the Forgotten Child Fund gave toys to more than 9,100 children, said public information officer Clay Ingle. Any parent can apply.

“Anybody that feels they need help for Christmas,” Ingle said. “Our goal is that every child has something for Christmas.”

Parents who wish to apply should visit the Forgotten Child Fund’s application center at 1715 E. Main St. in Chattanooga, at the corner of Main and S. Hawthorne streets, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. The deadline is Dec. 11.

Parents will need a government-issued identification card, as well as their own Social Security cards and the Social Security cards for their children. Parents or guardians also will need to prove guardianship.

The Forgotten Child Fund typically provides six toys to any child age 16 or younger who is eligible, Ingle said.

Community members who want to donate toys for the fund can drop toys off at any Chattanooga fire station or Hamilton County EMS station, Ingle said. Churches and other faith-based organizations are invited to also host toy drives. and should contact the fund for more information.
