The estate of Alvin and Frances Cannon will sell 40 local homes, townhouses and retail storefronts tonight in one of the biggest absolute auctions of its type in years in Chattanooga. Sperry Van Ness, an Atlanta-based auction company, will conduct an auction for 21 different property lots involving 40 sites across Chattanooga.

The auction, which was ordered by the trustee for the Cannon estates to help liquidate the properties after years of being on the market, begins at 7 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Bidder should register tonight at 6 p.m.

“These are properties with existing tenants that offer some great investment potential,” said Tom Hunter, an agent for Sperry Van Ness. “Having an absolute auction with this number of properties is very unusual and should draw a lot of interest,”

The properties are in Chattanooga and Ringgold. More information is available at www.svniac.com.
