Now the wait begins.

But it won’t be long.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team will find out its postseason situation this morning, when the Football Championship Subdivision playoff brackets are announced at 11 a.m. on ESPNU.

The FCS eighth-ranked Mocs (8-3), who fell 52-13 to Atlantic Coast Conference member and 16th-ranked Florida State on Saturday, are assured of a spot in the 24-team field by virtue of the Southern Conference’s automatic bid. They have at least shared the SoCon championship for the third consecutive season and own a second consecutive automatic bid into the playoff field.

They shared the league title with The Citadel, and the 21st-ranked Bulldogs (8-3) defeated Southeastern Conference member South Carolina 23-22 on Saturday and should be in the field. That win could have positive implications on the Mocs’ hopes for a bye, as could a 31-3 win over Furman on Oct. 10. The Paladins defeated FBS member Central Florida 16-15 earlier in the season.
