Santa needs his sea legs for one of Chattanooga’s most popular holiday events. The Lighted Boat Parade on the Tennessee River is scheduled Friday, Nov. 27.
Some 30 boats decked out in lights and other decorations will be bringing the holiday spirit to the riverfront, adding more sparkle to the buildings, bridges and other structures strung with lights throughout downtown.
Jill Price, spokeswoman for event sponsor Erwin Marine, says the event is a good way to start the holiday season.
“It’s going to be a fun night. It gets everyone in a festive mood,” she says.
Price says Erwin Marine will have at least one decorated boat to lead the parade, and all boaters are welcome.
“The boaters meet on the water at the C.B. Robinson Bridge where we’ll begin the parade,” Price says. “And there’s typically some last-minute boaters who join in. This year, I’ve noticed there are more smaller boats participating, and that’s good. The more the better.”
Spectators watching from Ross’s Landing may want to take a spin at Ice on the Landing during the evening as well. Buddy Shirk will be playing organ music to accompany skaters at this seasonal ice rink.
