Former University of Florida assistant Matt McCall is now the new head men’s basketball coach at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
This afternoon, fans of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s basketball team will get to see new showcases.
A new floor, a new team and a new coach.
The Mocs are having an open controlled scrimmage at 1 today at McKenzie Arena. It will be fans’ first look at the 2015-16 team that is expected to compete for a Southern Conference championship, and the first look at new head coach Matt McCall in a coaching situation.
Fans also will be able to check out the new floor installed by Praters Flooring, a project that was completed Tuesday.
“We’re excited,” McCall said in a release. “This is a chance to put our guys in a game-like setting and to see where we are after two weeks. We’ve worked really hard to get to this point. We’re happy to open the scrimmage so our fans and supporters can see where we are and, more importantly, where we’re heading.”
The Mocs play an exhibition game Nov. 6 against local NCAA Division III member Covenant College. The season begins on Nov. 13 with an away game against Georgia; the home opener is on Nov. 16 against Hiwassee.
