Singer Clark Beckham, the Season 14 runner-up on “American Idol,” will return to familiar surroundings this weekend.

Beckham, a Lee University graduate, will headline a concert Friday, Oct. 23, marking the fourth anniversary of The Salvation Army’s Inman Street Coffeehouse in Cleveland, Tenn. On Sunday, Oct. 25, he’ll perform at AT&T Field in Chattanooga when the Hucks for Heroes Ultimate Frisbee world record attempt/fundraiser winds down.

FRIDAY IN CLEVELAND

Beckham is one of five acts set for the Inman Street Coffeehouse block party.

He’ll be joined by The Giant & The Tailor, who’ve been nominated for a Dove Award, an Artists Music Guild award and an International Music and Entertainment Associations award; indie folk band Edward & Jane; The Mailboxes, the first band to play the coffeehouse; Saints and Sound, signed to Soncured Records; and singer/songwriter Ben Strawn. All have ties to Cleveland or Chattanooga.

Festivities will begin at 7 p.m. and end around 11 p.m.

SUNDAY IN CHATTANOOGA

Hucks for Heroes is an effort by Lee University students to complete a 90-hour Ultimate Frisbee game and set a Guinness World Record. Proceeds, initially raised from sponsorships from local businesses, will go to the families of the military men whose lives were lost in the Chattanooga shooting in July.

“Even months after tragedy has truck the lives of five families in Chattanooga, our hearts break for those who lost loved ones,” says Derek Murray, Lee student and event coordinator. “This game is the best way we know how to show support, both emotionally and financially. We see this as an opportunity to take care of them as a small return for what they have done for us.”

Hucks for Heroes began Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the recreational field on Lee’s campus. When events move to AT&T Field at noon Sunday, a $5 fee will be charged at the gate ($2 with any student ID).

All money raised in the fundraiser will go to the 7-16 Freedom Fund of Chattanooga. Funds will be distributed among the five families, as well as to Chattanooga Police Officer Dennis Pedigo, who was injured in the shooting.

Ringgold, Ga.-based country band Smith & Wesley will open for Beckham.
