Garbage cans banged up too frequently

Why are we a target for our trash pick-up driver?

We live in a neighborhood that has two streets with a total length of three blocks. This year alone we have had one container replaced and at least six wheels replaced, not counting the one sitting at our curb now waiting for a new wheel.

I saw one neighbor’s trash container with a hole in the side bigger then a basketball. I saw the repairman fixing one last week down the street. I don’t think a week goes by that someone in the neighborhood doesn’t get damage.

If this is typical of the city, we need to sell those trucks to someone who knows how to use them.

How can politicians criticize Obamacare?

So U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn wants to say, “See how Obamacare failed.” Well, consider the source.

Six- and seven-figure salaries are ubiquitous in the “not for profit” insurance industry, including BlueCross BlueShield.

The taxpayers also pay Rep. Blackburn and every other political hack lots of money for their insurance. So much money floating around in politics and health insurance.

Tennessee politicians, you first. BlueCross executives, you next. You are obscenely overpaid.

Don’t judge all by acts of few

I would like to share a few words with you to dispel any misconceptions which may have come about due to a story on page B1 of Tuesday’s Times Free Press.

Islam is, simply put, a religion. It is a faith system with basic tenants embodying a spirit of peace and justice.

According to Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond, “Islam” is a threat to America’s constitutional government. But this is simply not the case.

Yes, there are many terrorist organizations and governments that do threaten our country, and their members may claim to be “Muslim.” But the reality is that they do not represent or follow the true teachings of Islam.

As Americans, I hope we can stay true to our commitments of respect and freedom for all faiths as outlined by the First Amendment, and realize not to put the blame for the acts of an erratic few on a vast and diverse group of people.

Come packing heat for Rubio rally

As announced, Marco Rubio will be coming to Chattanooga on Thursday in an attempt to make up some of his dismal numbers in the polls recently.

To show real support for Mr. Rubio, and all Republican contenders, please remember that it is appropriate to come armed. Bring your guns, make them visible for all to see and show the candidate that you, like Marco, are a supporter of the Second Amendment.

In doing so, it will add to the security of the event in case of any radicalized intrusions by Democrats, members of the LGBT community, communists, Buddhists, people of color, Scandinavians (people of no color), atheists (people of no God), Trumpites (people who think they are God) and all other nefarious types.
