Man in hospital after fall at Chattanooga TVA building

Chattanooga Fire Department personnel responding to a call just before noon today found a Tennessee Valley Authority contract worker who had fallen 20 feet into a concrete trench on the 12th Street side of the TVA Building downtown, a news release states.

Rescuers entered the trench and lifted the man out with ropes in an operation that took an estimated 20-30 minutes, according to the fire department news release.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Erlanger hospital for treatment.

Update on Sept. 22: The victim has died.
