Did controversial admiral have an invite to speak at Chattanooga Unite?Sohn: Admiral blaming Chattanooga attack on Obama was not supposed to speak Crowds pack Ross’s Landing for tribute to five slain servicemen
‘We the people’ love Adm. Lyons
It looks like the ruling class has taken upon itself to label we the people as controversial. When the patriotic and faithful Adm. Lyons, of whom the ruling class is not worthy to wipe his shoes, spoke the truth at the Chattanooga gathering, we the people loved his speech and gave loud approval.
If I were the one who invited him, I would be proud to say so. I will say I am glad to invite him to our Bill of Rights banquet in December, but I am sure one in such demand is too busy comforting real Americans who are in the majority. In the vernacular of WWII, with God’s help, we will win, in spite of the minority ruling class.
Has anyone read the words of the Navy hymn? Is that something the ruling class would call controversial?

Lyons’ comments inappropriate
I wish to express my profound agreement with the Sept. 18 Chattanooga Times editorial about Ret. Adm. James Aloysius “Ace” Lyons. His speech was inappropriate because it was partisan and defamatory.
Fortunately, the directors of the Sept. 16 observance of the July 16 tragedy have denied inviting Lyons to speak here. His words ran counter to the spirit of the gathering.
I also believe that those in the crowd who cheered him on should be ashamed of themselves.

Lack of convenient parking lamented
In a recent edition of the Times Free Press, an article showed the results of a poll that said 83 percent of responders thought “it was too difficult to find parking downtown.” I completely agree. I’m interested in what is going on downtown. I’m 84 years old, and I remember a robust downtown, but I find locating convenient parking near my destination now to be too much trouble and stressful.
I’ve written before on this subject and suggested that Broad Street’s center trees, etc., be removed for the entire length of the street and made into the diagonal parking for which it was originally designed. If the city of Chattanooga wants people to come in from the suburbs and participate in shopping and restaurant activity, they are going to have to address the parking problem. Few people will ride the bus downtown. This is not the 1940s and 1950s. Get serious!
I don’t know how this new $1-an-hour parking meter will play out. I understand the need to keep people who work downtown from sitting on the meters all day long.

Iran agreement crosses the line
Obama has crossed the line with the Iranian agreement. For 18 years, Iran, the world’s No. 1 sponsor of terrorism, hid its nuclear program from the world. During the talks, its supreme leader repeatedly pledged death to America and Israel. It’s outrageous Obama would continue to deal after those threats.
There are side deals Obama refuses to reveal to Congress. One of the deals, however, was leaked; it stated Iran will be allowed to conduct its own inspections at certain sites. This is ludicrous! No wonder Obama won’t tell Congress.
America gets nothing out of this deal, and Iran gets $150 billion to support terrorism. This deal does nothing to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. Iran has already violated the agreement by allowing Russia to move troops, tanks, and planes into Syria by way of Iran. We are at war with terrorists. Therefore, Obama and every member of Congress who voted to support this deal are guilty of treason.
Obama has abandoned Israel and sided with Iran. God warns those who go against his people. If this continues, our country will pay a devastating price. God bless America.
