A child drowned at the Oglethorpe Ridge Apartments in Fort Oglethorpe on Sunday, according Fort Oglethorpe police chief David Eubanks.
The 18-month-old-child, Noah Livingston Smith, of 1007 Oglethorpe Ridge Lane, was found unresponsive in the apartment complex pool.
The child was taken to Hutchenson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe and later transported to T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga where he died.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been asked to assist in the case.
The child’s body will be taken to the GBI Medical Examiners’ office in Decatur, Ga., where an autopsy will be performed.
