Good World Goods may be in a new location, but business owner Victoria York is still planning to do what she’s always done: combine her love of local art with her passion for helping nonprofit causes.
Next Wednesday, April 20, from 4-7 p.m., the Brainerd Hills Center business – which relocated from its former location two months ago – is hosting an open house to feature new painter Cindy McCashin and longtime potter Bonnie Scoggins.
“We love her, love her work and are so excited to have her, because we had to wait until we got into the new space,” York said of McCashin.
But the event isn’t just to celebrate the artists, York said. Proceeds from the afternoon open house will benefit The Human Initiative, a nonprofit focused on helping the homeless.
During the event, workers with The Human Initiative will raffle off items donated from Wright Jewelers, Allstate, Greg’s Sandwich Works, Mitchell’s Hair Salon and more.
“I just want people to expect the kinds of things we carried before, and even more,” York said of the new, expanded space and, thus, inventory. “I’m just so excited because it’s our first event and having the support of the other retailers in the strip is so exciting. There’s a lot to offer here.”
