Twenty-four candidates have applied for the director's post with Cleveland City Schools

In February, the city board of education fired then-Director Martin Ringstaff due to "behavior unbecoming" following revelations that he exchanged sexually explicit social media message with a woman other than his wife. After terminating Ringstaff's employment, the board hired the Tennessee School Boards Association to conduct a search on behalf of the school system.

"The posting is now closed so there will be no further updates to this list," said Katie Hock, director of communications and member services for TSBA, in an email.

The city school board will consider candidates recommended by TSBA on May 2 and has announced plans to have a new director selected by mid-June.
