KINGSTON – After five days of testimony, a Roane County jury took three hours Wednesday to find former Knoxville insurance agent Shawn Smoot guilty of premeditated first-degree murder in the 2011 shooting death of his one-time girlfriend.

Smoot, 44, was left to wait one more day to learn his fate.
