UPDATE: Full electrical power has been restored at Erlanger hospital, after a two-hour outage Monday morning caused by a fire in a transformer.

Hospital spokeswoman Pat Charles said power was restored about 11:20.

The hospital lost power about 9:15 a.m., after a fire in a transformer, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Firefighters put out the fire and the EPB began work to restore electricity.

The hospital’s backup generators kicked in and provided power, Charles said. She said emergency surgeries were continuing and that the hospital continued to receive patients transferred from other hospitals. The generator also provided auxiliary lighting.
