Barre One is celebrating Signal Mountain resident Carrie Rice’s time as co-manager and instructor at the downtown studio, which teaches a form of yoga to students on a daily basis.
Rice, who has been with the studio since October 2014, is starting a career at Baylor School this fall teaching seventh- and eighth-grade mathematics, in addition to coaching middle school girls cross-country. She will still be around the studio, though – taking classes.
“I will still take classes at Barre One whenever I can,” said Rice. “I have enjoyed the people here the most. I have seen these people four times a week. I will come and take classes here one day a week hopefully.”
Barre One co-manager Kelly Delligatti said she will miss Rice.
“I moved here from Murfreesboro two years ago too,” said Delligatti. “I met Carrie at an Advanced Barre Amped Training in Louisville, Ky., in May of 2014. We started instructing here and took over as management. She’s amazing. She has tons of good ideas.”
North Chattanooga resident Alysse Echard has been taking Barre One classes since it opened in December 2013.
“I will miss Carrie’s unbridled enthusiasm,” she said. “She teaches Barre to all her clients with amazing energy.”
Delligatti said Barre classes range from Barre One, which focuses on small isometric movements, to Boot Camp, which combines cardio with Tabata training’s low-impact moves – and Rice has taught them all.
“We have a Fire Barre Class that is full range of motion with cardio,” said Delligatti. “It’s a little faster. Beginners should start with a Barre One. It’s still challenging. I like Barre One because I’m a climber and a moderate-distance trail runner, so it supports all my stabilizer muscles and the core. I’ve had multi-use injuries throughout my knees, shoulders and hips, so Barre has helped me find balance and stability.”
