Dade County Wolverines at Gordon Lee Trojans

Storyline: The season kickoff in northwest Georgia has a team hit very hard by graduation traveling to an opponent with serious playoff expectations. The Wolverines, with just two starters back on offense, will rely on the hard running of FB Kam Jones and athletic QB Trey Whitehead. Gordon Lee – eliminated by Dade from playoff contention in the final week of the regular season in 2015 – must replace all-star QB Caleb O’Neal. The Trojans will rely on RBs Drew Cobb, Braden Jarvis and Logan Hill to carry the load until QB Austin Thompson is up to speed.

Walker Valley Mustangs at Bradley Central Bears

Storyline: Both the Mustangs and Bears are expected to be among the area’s best teams this season, although each is in a competitive region. Beyond the county rivalry, the game matches quality QBs in the Bears’ Cole Copeland and the Mustangs’ Kolten Gibson. The difference might come down to Walker Valley RB Alex King and whether the Bradley Central defense can control the line of scrimmage. The Bears won 34-27 last year and have taken four of the past five meetings.
