Smoke in the Valley, a barbecue competition open to professional and backyard pitmasters, will return to Pikeville, Tenn., on Saturday, Aug. 27.
The daylong festival, sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, also will feature food and other vendors.
First meats will be submitted for judging at noon, with categories for chicken, ribs, pork, brisket and desserts happening on the half hour through 2 p.m.
Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. (all times are Central).
The festival site is 243 Allen P. Deakins Road in Pikeville.
All proceeds go to the Bledsoe County Rescue Squad for equipment, training and operating expenses.
