River Gallery’s December exhibit brings together four family members, each with a distinct creative style.
For their latest works:
* Family matriarch Marty Whipple has shifted from a long history of jewelry art into thoughtful abstraction with paint and brushes.
* Son Jim Whipple has assembled an array of unusual mechanical parts, gears, vintage beads, buttons and a variety of other items in his jewelry.
* Son John Whipple, a master of mixed media, is showing his whimsical two-dimensional compositions, anything from collages to sculpture.
* Daughter-in-law Lynn Whipple, John’s wife, has created floral paintings that draw upon her process as a mixed-media artist accomplished in everything from collage to painting and drawing, sewing to found objects.
An opening reception is scheduled Friday evening, Dec. 2. The exhibition will continue through December. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sundays.
