Longtime local broadcaster David Carroll will hold book signings Saturday, Dec. 17, at two Food City locations.
Carroll will sign copies of his latest work, “Volunteer Bama Dawg,” from 10 a.m. to noon at 5604 Hixson Pike and from 2 to 4 p.m. at 531 Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.
“Volunteer Bama Dawg” is based on Carroll’s life.
“It represents the three states I’ve loved all my life,” he says. “I grew up in Alabama, I now live in Tennessee, and I drive through Georgia just about every day. It’s who I am.”
Recently, he found the spot where a person can stand in those three states at one time. “I tell the story of the border that connects Marion, Dade and Jackson counties,” he says.
“You can have your big toe in Tennessee, your heel in Alabama, and your other foot in Georgia. It’s become quite the little tourist attraction.”
The book includes 60 photographs to go along with sometimes funny, sometimes historical and sometimes sentimental stories. There are also items about some of the many local personalities that have been a part of TV and radio over the years.
