The Dalton Police Department is on the lookout for the getaway driver for a thief who was allegedly caught on camera stealing a wallet from an unlocked car at the West Walnut Avenue Kroger.
According to a release, the wallet was stolen on January 6, when the victim left his wallet in the car and walked into the store at approximately 1:45 p.m.
A maroon Ford Expedition backed into the spot next to the victim’s car shortly after and the driver also went inside before returning to the car.
Before leaving, a man got out of the passenger side of the Expedition, walked to the driver’s side of the victim’s car and opened the door.
He then got back into the Expedition after a few minutes and the car left.
The victim said that he did not have any cash in his wallet, but he did have bank cards, identification, and a social security card.
The driver is not currently a suspect, but police believe he can identify the thief. He was described as being approximately 6 feet tall and was wearing an Alabama ball cap, jeans and a brown Nike hoodie pullover.
