Rossville is among eight cities and towns from a 16-county region selected for the Thriving Communities Initiative.
The initiative is part of Thrive 2055, a project focused on engaging people in the surrounding 16-county region to make the most of the region’s economic opportunities while preserving what locals love about their communities. The Thriving Communities Initiative will offer strategic assistance to communities by leveraging arts and culture for economic vibrancy and growth, according to a press release.
“I am excited that Rossville was picked as one of the Thrive 2055 inaugural communities for the Thriving Communities Initiatives,” said Rossville Mayor Teddy Harris. “I am confident that the Rossville Thriving Committee – Susan Wells, Elizabeth Wells, Sally Morrow and Margaret Smith – will come away from this program with tangible goals on how to leverage the arts and culture for economic vibrancy in our community.”
Harris said their work could become part of a larger strategic vision for the Rossville community.
The Thriving Communities program seeks to serve communities in Northeast Alabama, Northwest Georgia and Southeast Tennessee seeking to grow their economy through locally driven asset-based strategies. The program is being facilitated by Bridge Innovate, a Chattanooga firm which specializes in the emerging discipline of design thinking, a creative visioning process with tangible goals.
