Dieter to join Alabama receiving mix

For a second consecutive year, Alabama is adding a graduate transfer to its receiving corps.

Gehrig Dieter, who was a 1,000-yard receiver this past season at Bowling Green, announced this weekend via Twitter that he will spend his final college season with the Crimson Tide. The 6-foot-3, 207-pounder is scheduled to graduate from the Mid-American Conference school in May.

This past season, Richard Mullaney made valuable contributions to Alabama’s offense after graduating from Oregon State.

Dieter racked up 94 receptions for 1,033 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Falcons during the 2015 season.

One of his finer performances occurred in their 59-30 opening loss to Tennessee in Nashville, when he collected seven receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown. His 19.0 yards per catch against the Volunteers was his highest average of the season.

Dieter will join an impressive group of Alabama receivers headed by Calvin Ridley and ArDarius Stewart, with Robert Foster returning from injury. Mullaney helped the Crimson Tide’s thin receiver crop this past season with 38 catches for 390 yards and five touchdowns.
