Lee University is hosting a free performance by Jordan Smith, winner of “The Voice,” at 7 p.m. today, Feb. 18, in Conn Center, 150 11th St. on the Cleveland, Tenn., campus.

Smith is the 22-year-old Lee music major who took a semester off last year to audition for NBC’s “The Voice,” made it onto Adam Levine’s team and remained the front-runner throughout Season 9 until winning the talent competition. During his run for the title, Smith claimed the record for top-selling artist in iTunes downloads throughout any of the show’s nine seasons.

This is his first visit to Cleveland since winning the title in December. He also is singing this morning in Lee’s regular Chapel program, open only to students and Lee employees.

Tonight’s “Welcome Back, Jordan!” community concert is a free, one-hour, nonticketed event. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Overflow seating will be available in nearby auditoriums on a closed-circuit, on-screen relay. A live, streaming webcast will be available at http://livestream.com/leeu.

Smith’s debut album, “Something Beautiful,” a mix of covers and original songs, will be released March 18. Its first single, an original song called “Stand in the Light,” can be ordered in advance at https://jordansmith.lnk.to/SomethingBeautiful. Anyone who pre-orders the album will receive an instant download of the single.

Smith also released an album of songs from the show, “Jordan Smith: The Complete Season 9 Collection,” on iTunes a day after his win.
