If Brainerd’s boys had the goal of winning an ugly basketball game Saturday in their District 6-AA high school semfinal, then mission accomplished.
As ugly as the Panthers may have played, Tyner played uglier as Brainerd defeated the Rams 65-53 at Brainerd.
“I want us to look prettier on offense,” Brainerd coach Levar Brown said. “We missed a lot of layups for no reason. No body contact. No foul.
“As far as being ugly for them, yes, we want that.”
Brainerd (22-5) advances to Tuesday’s championship game scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m. The Panthers will take on regular-season champion Central, which survived a scare from fourth-seeded Red Bank and won 64-62.
