For its live shows, Foreigner likes to partner with a local high school choir to join the band onstage for the Grammy-nominated 1984 hit “I Want To Know What Love Is.” For Tuesday’s show, March 1, the choir at Bradley Central High School is the lucky winner.

The choir, known as Quadrant D, will be joined by VocalMotion, another vocal group at the school. Foreigner will donate $500 to the choir for appearing with the band, and the choir will sell Foreigner CDs at the concert to raise funds for Foreigner’s charity partner, the Grammy Foundation.

Choir director Gwen Shroyer said the group might have had an in when it came time to submit a video as part of the selection process. He teaches a program called Rock Band at the school that meshes the technical side of making music and video with the performing side. It just so happens that last year, the class made a video of Foreigner’s “Juke Box Hero.”

“When we saw they were coming and doing this [the onstage opportunity], we thought, ‘We got this,'” Shroyer says.

All of the kids in the video are still students at Bradley and will be onstage Tuesday.

“We are super-excited about this,” he says. “It’s a moment the kids will remember for the rest of their lives.”

A lot of the parents are just as excited.

“Everyone wants to be a chaperone,” he says.
