Interested in establishing a spring bee colony? Registration deadline for the Tennessee Valley Beekeepers Association’s annual Beekeepers Mentoring Program is Monday, Jan. 25.
Classes will be held at 10 a.m. the second Saturday of each month in a designated bee yard, as weather permits (bees don’t like getting wet).
Those interested in joining should email beemailus@gmail.com.
The number of registrants accepted will depend on the number of available apiary sites.
The first informational meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the UT Hamilton County Extension Office, 6183 Adamson Circle. A $300 nonrefundable payment will be due on that date so wooden ware (new hives) can be ordered.
