Former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and McCallie star quarterback B.J. Coleman has signed a two-year contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

A seventh-round 2012 NFL draft pick by the Green Bay Packers, who released him just before the 2013 season opener, Coleman played for the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League in 2015 before walking away from the game and saying he enter the business world.

“I missed it too much,” Coleman said. “It’s like an itch I couldn’t scratch unless I came back and played. And this is just too good an opportunity to pass up. Coach (Chris) Jones and his staff will build a great organization, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Jones, also a former UTC player and a South Pittsburg graduate, took over as head coach and general manager of the Roughriders shortly after winning a Grey Cup in his second season as head coach at Edmonton.
