You can go home with your version of this snowy scene, “Winter in the Country,” tonight, Jan. 28, when local artist Durinda Cheek leads Painting for a Purpose, the first in a monthly series of painting parties for adults, at the 6th Cavalry Museum, 6 Barnhardt Circle in Fort Oglethorpe.
A $40 donation includes all painting supplies (16×20 canvas, acrylic paints, brushes, easel and instruction), plus dinner catered by Ivy Cottage Restaurant (bring a favorite beverage).
Scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., the event raises funds for the museum and shows off recent renovations, which have made the second-floor community room available for classes, lectures, exhibits and dinners.
The class is limited to 20. To check on space availability, call 706-861-2860 or email chris@6thcavalrymuseum.com.
