3 local doctors in TMA training

Three physicians from the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society – Drs. Justin Calvert, and Chetan Shah – are participating in a new leadership training program by the Tennessee Medical Association. It is designed to help doctors adapt to the emerging team-based environment and value-based reimbursement. Participants in the Physician Leadership Lab began classes last month.

This year, the former TMA Physician Leadership College was expanded and repackaged with two new courses under the John Ingram Institute for Physician Leadership. The two new programs within the Ingram Institute include an intensive leadership retreat and the Physician Leadership Lab.

Each participant will implement an improvement project in his or her own practice as part of the course before graduating in July.

Associates in Plastic Surgery (APS) has added surgeon Cindy McCord to their team in order to meet increased demand and expand the practice’s services.

Dr. McCord provides the full range of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery services, along with Dr. Chris Chase and Dr. Arthur vonWerssowetz.

“With the retirement of Dr. Eyssen, one of Chattanooga’s best-known plastic surgeons, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. McCord to our team,” said vonWerssowetz. “More and more we are treating patients from surrounding cities like Nashville and Atlanta in Chattanooga.”

McCord received her medical degree from St. George University School of Medicine, and completed her plastic surgery training at the Medical University of South Carolina. She was previously practicing in Gadsden, Alabama.
