Only guilty need raft of lawyers
There is not a snowball’s chance that, unlike Hillary Clinton, any of the rest of us 325 million Americans, if we were suspected of a federal crime, could “voluntarily” arrange an interview with the FBI, and at our convenience.
And would we be allowed to bring five or six of our lawyers along? And why would we need to bring so many lawyers if we were “innocent”?

‘Drugstore cowboy’ should thank vet
Had the content not been so sad, I would have had a good chuckle reading the recent letter from the drugstore cowboy schooling the combat-seasoned veteran on guns.
If anything, had this John Wayne-type had any manners or decent upbringing, he would have been thanking the veteran for his unselfish sacrifice that allows folks who have never spent a minute of service to our country to have diatribes like this.
It’s a sad commentary on today’s able-bodied young men who have, as this cowboy said, no military experience and, evidently, no desire for same. The draft is long gone but not the obligation to serve your country, if you have any backbone.
So, Sonny, you go ahead and play with your gun.

Botox has several approved uses
I believe the comments in the original story were misunderstood by a recent letter writer from Signal Mountain (June 26: “What I did find beyond belief in the story is the fact that Medicare pays for Botox”).
Please be aware that Botox has approved medical uses that provide patients with help for conditions that are not treatable by other means.
Without Botox, my sister would have no treatment for her bladder condition – she also has Parkinson’s – and I would have no treatment for my vocal tremor, for which Botox is administered at Vanderbilt Medical Center. There may be other medical conditions that are also treated with Botox and allowed by Medicare, but the above two are the ones with which I am personally familiar.
Cosmetic use of Botox (such as treatment for wrinkles) would not be considered a medical necessity under Medicare guidelines, and therefore not paid by Medicare.

District 4 needs adult in the room
The Hamilton County Department of Education isn’t providing our children with the education they deserve.
It’s not because our kids can’t learn or because our problems are too big to fix. Our school system is failing because the adults who work on the school board and in central office refuse to set aside their differences and do their jobs. We’re failing because these adults often act like children.
Our school board members have failed to work with the County Commission over the past decade, instead gossiping and picking fights. Rather than addressing problems and proposing solutions, they pass blame and cover things up. They do everything we teach our children not to.
I see a chance for change in this school board race. That’s why I’m sad the supporters of District 4 school board candidates have turned to childish games.
All of Tiffanie Robinson’s signs in East Chattanooga – where I live – were torn out of the ground and thrown into the river. Some people aren’t ready for her. I’m asking you to be ready for her.
Look at our candidates. Ask yourselves who actually cares, who can make change and who can act like an adult.

Liberal pastors, politicans hurting us
Our country is in trouble when we have liberal pastors twisting Bible scriptures for their own agenda for gun control.
We also have crooked politicions who openly lie to the American people and the people accept this as normal.

Politicians need to be weaned from NRA
After reading two rebuttals to Terry Stulce’s recent commentary about gun lovers and their right to be armed to the teeth, I wanted to add my two cents.
It’s too bad that none of our so-called leaders in Washington have not checked out how all the European countries, and especially Japan, have had so much less gun violence than the red, white and blue. Seems like we’ve had our heads in the sand long enough.
Despite all the “cowboys” toting here, it is quite rare to find a true criminal brought to justice via licensed gunslingers, and this fact holds true throughout America.
The reasons for so many shootings today – insults, put-downs, girl problems – were settled with fists and knives in bygone days, but the gun makes all men equal in battle now. The face of America in 2016 reminds me of a spoiled brat: forever doing mischief but never having to pay consequences for his actions.
We’ll continue the path we’re on until the gun lobby – NRA – releases its stranglehold of our politicians, who would rather be re-elected than protect our nation.

A vote for Trump preserves liberty
Vote for Donald Trump and keep liberty. Vote for Hillary and lose more liberty, just as we have done under the communist and habitual liar now in the White House.
Our liberty and Constitution will disappear more with her as president.

Benghazi probe too long for simple answers
I find it hard to believe that it cost the taxpayers “millions” to investigate Hillary Clinton’s role in the terrible attack on our diplomats at Benghazi.
The investigation should have taken a few weeks and very little in the way of expenses. I think the questions to be answered are very simple.
First, did the ambassador personally contact Hillary Clinton in person, telephone or e-mail to ask for the additional security forces in the weeks prior to the attack? If he did, there should be a record of this request and/or someone on his staff.
Second, if he asked someone on her staff for the added security, there should have been a record of this request and that person should have a record of their response to the ambassador and their contact with Hillary Clinton to pass his request up their “chain of command.”
Either way, she is responsible directly or indirectly that the four Americans died in the attack. This one incident among many in her public career should be enough to render her unable to serve as commander in chief. The truth of this story should have been revealed long ago.
