Turn lanes and traffic signals are the end goal of a major road project which has officially begun on Dayton Pike in the city of Soddy-Daisy.
Partially funded by the Federal Highway Administration, the project begins at Fire Station 3, located at 9087 Dayton Pike next to Veterans Park, and extends down Dayton Pike to its intersection with Pottery Lane.
It includes the extension of the turning lane on Dayton Pike between Porter Street and Meadowview Lane, said City Manager Janice Cagle.
“The project will include an improvement to the intersection at Harrison Lane/Dayton Pike with a new traffic signal being installed there as well,” City Recorder Burt Johnson said in an email.
He said cost of the project is approximately $5 million, of which the city is paying 20 percent. The remainder is covered by funds from FWHA through a grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
