Did you know?

Actors From the London Stage was co-founded by renowned British actor Patrick Stewart.

Members of the world-renowned Actors From the London Stage are finalizing a one-week residency program at UTC this week and will present three performances of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as part of their visit here.

One of the oldest established touring Shakespeare theater companies in the world, AFTLS takes a pared-down approach to Shakespeare. Their performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. today through Saturday, March 3-5, in the Fine Arts Center, 752 Vine St.

The actors are classically trained, coming from such prestigious companies as the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, they devote a large part of their time to student interaction.

These interactive experiences may be done as classroom workshops, onstage demonstrations, text readings or informal meetings with students who want to know more. The actors are known for being truly committed to teaching and making themselves entirely accessible to students during their stay on campus.

“This is a truly great show and experience,” says Bob Boyer, Patten Performances presenter. “This is one of the very best Shakespeare troupes in the world.”

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for students. Call 423-425-4371 for more information.
