The shooters who killed a Chattanooga man Wednesday afternoon knew who they were after.
Police say two men approached the mother of 41-year-old Michael Hines and asked where her son was around 12:45 p.m.
The mother told the men that her son was in the garage. One man stayed with the mother while another man went inside the home and found Hines.
The man demanded money from Hines and then shot him multiple times, according to police.
The two men then fled in a brown Buick Park Avenue with tinted windows. The vehicle, which had damage to the back left side, soon was spotted by authorities in a "neighboring jurisdiction," Fletcher said.
Those authorities chased the vehicle for several minutes, but the driver managed to lose police and escape.
Investigators are still seeking the two men, both described as about 5-feet, 8-inches tall and black.
