Crews will replace broken bridge deck panels over the weekend on the Interstate 24 east bridge at mile marker 178.4 over Chestnut Street near the U.S. 27 interchange, according to a Tennessee Department of Transportation news release.
Crews also will be installing a barrier rail at this location beginning at 9 p.m. tonight and end Friday morning by 5 a.m. EST. This work will begin at 9 p.m. EST on Friday and be completed by 5 a.m. EDT on Monday. During the repairs the outside (right) lane and shoulder of the bridge will be closed.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol will assist with traffic control and caution should be used while traveling through the work zone. Traffic information will be displayed on TDOT’s SmartWay Dynamic Message Signs, and several message boards will be used to provide traffic information to the public.
Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances cause delays, it will be rescheduled to take place at a later date.
