Traffic was backed up on Interstate 24 westbound in Hamilton County but has begun to clear, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s Smartway website.
High traffic volumes from downtown Chattanooga to the Tennessee-Georgia state line were reported.
Delays are expected to continue until 6:30 p.m. for westbound traffic. Eastbound traffic should not experience any delays.
