Dr. Jonathan Crutchfield, who co-founded the School of Fine Arts of First Baptist Church, 401 Gateway Ave., and directed the program until 2002, will return to Chattanooga today, May 5, to perform at the inaugural Crutchfield Benefit Organ Concert.

Set for 7 to 8 p.m., the concert will raise funds for the J.E. Crutchfield Scholarship Fund, which provides need-based scholarships for private lessons for students of all ages.

Crutchfield, in whose honor the fund was established, is an accomplished organist who has played in Europe, South Africa, Japan, China, the United States and Canada.

He is currently the organist/choirmaster at Morningside Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. He will be joined by SFA faculty Penny Downs Tullock and Dr. Steve Tonkinson.

The concert is free.

Donations to the scholarship fund are tax-deductible.
