First Baptist Church of Ringgold, Ga. will present world-renowned composer/pianist Mary McDonald in a concert of scared music on Sunday, May 15. The performance will begin at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church at 7611 Nashville St.
A lifelong Knoxville resident, McDonald served as music director for The Lorenz Corp. in Dayton, Ohio, for more than 20 years before resigning in 2011 to take her music directly to churches as an independent artist. Since then, her bio says, she has been in constant demand in churches across the nation for composer weekends. She also serves as host for choral music dealer conferences, where ministers of music gather to hear new choral music to take back to their congregations. McDonald also was the first woman president of the Southern Baptist Church Music Conference.
In Ringgold, McDonald will lead the Adult Choir in a dozen of her many compositions for mixed chorus and will play several of her arrangements of hymns and gospel songs for piano.
Admission is free. For more information, call the church office at 706-935-2358.
