Ooltewah basketball coach faces criminal charges in connection with teammate rape

The Hamilton County Grand Jury has indicted Ooltewah High School's head basketball coach Andre "Tank" Montgomery today for failing to report child sexual abuse in connection with the rape of an Ooltewah High School freshman, allegedly by three of his basketball teammates.

Failure to report child sexual abuse is a class A misdemeanor and carries a sentence of up to 11 months, 29 days behind bars, according to a spokesperson for the Hamilton County district attorney.

Montgomery was chaperoning the boy's basketball team just days before Christmas at a rental cabin in Gatlinburg, Tenn., when a 15-year-old player was injured so severely he had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.
