Chickamauga Lions Club’s annual Bingo Night to help raise money for Down Home Days welcomed a packed house of between 75 and 100 guests.
“Its a small fundraiser and an activity we like to do for the community,” said club president Eddie Upshaw. “People like to come out and socialize with their neighbors, eat chili and play bingo. Chris Box of Wanda’s Restaurant made the chili for us. It was delicious. Shop-Rite, Cohutta Bank and Southcrest Bank helped out too. Its more for fun than anything. We don’t make a lot. It was really great this time.”
He said Chickamauga Growth Association’s Jennifer Tarvin collected gifts for bingo prizes from the Chickamauga Merchants Association.
“People had a good time,” said Tarvin. “The Chickamauga Growth Association was a big help. I hope we can continue to work with them in the future to better serve the citizens of Chickamauga.”
Upshaw began helping with Bingo Night and Down Home Days 31 years ago. Down Home Days started in 1971.
