Board-certified nurse practitioner Teresa Hambley sees walk-in patients age 16 and older Monday-Friday from noon to 8 p.m. at the new location, offering treatment of minor illnesses and injuries that do not require a trip to the emergency room.
“Whether it’s a cough, cold, minor injury or possibly a fracture, I take care of the minor things,” said Hambley, explaining that her role is often just to stabilize the patient and take care of the pain until they return the following morning to see the doctor or go see a specialist.
Dr. Greg Nieckula, an internist at CHI Memorial Internal Medicine Associates, provides physician oversight.
“It saves you a trip down the mountain to go to some other urgent-care facility, and you can take care of your needs without the trip and the expense of the ER,” said Hambley.
Among the services she can provide are minor laceration, wound and burn care; as well as treatment for the flu, strep, coughs, colds, allergies, asthma and urinary tract infections.
She said the office currently offers radiology services until 5 p.m., but they should soon be available until 8 p.m. An on-site lab is available for simple lab work such as pregnancy tests and urinalysis, she added.
CHI Memorial Convenient Care – Signal Mountain is CHI Memorial Medical Group’s second urgent-care clinic, with the first located in Cleveland, Tenn. The Convenient Care facilities accept most commercial insurance as well as Medicare and Medicaid.
