People in St. Elmo, Lookout Mountain and Lookout Valley who were on water restrictions can open up their taps again.

Tennessee American Water Co. said Saturday night it has completed repair on a 24-inch water line on Cowart Street that was damaged Friday when a contractor bored through it.

The water company had asked customers to limit water use as a precaution until the repair was complete, according to a news release.

Tennessee American's release said that if residents notice air or discolored water, they can run their cold water until it runs clear.
