"I've made a personal commitment to hear my community, address our issues and bring awareness to the residents and business owner's concerns," Byrd said in the announcement. "My mission is to provide District 8 with a unified voice while striving to improve its economic status, property values, and schools."

Byrd said addressing the district's issues and concerns will be a great feat, requiring everyone's help.
