6 Strong Media films Chernobyl dome project
A Chattanooga-based video production and motion design studio, 6 Strong Media, was hired by a Paris-based company, the Hikari Netco Group, to film the loading and transport of a large crane that was used to construct portions of a new safe confinement dome to be fully in place at the Chernobyl nuclear plant by Wednesday – more than 30 years since the original nuclear plant accident.
The dome, measuring at 843 feet wide and 354 feet tall, is a huge, movable structure that will replace the deteriorating sarcophagus that was built to contain radiation after the 1986 Chernobyl explosion.
6 STRONG MEDIA was hired to capture 4K footage of the crane leaving a manufacturing plant in Brunswick, Ga., being transported to Savannah and then loaded onto a huge container ship at the port.
“This was an incredible project to work on as the sheer international impact is astounding,” said 6 STRONG MEDIA Executive Producer and CEO Kris Simmons. “This shoot was particularly challenging as the transportation logistics for such a massive object were extreme. “
During transport, power lines had to be lifted and the shipment was delayed for over a week due to a massive storm in the Atlantic Ocean which kept the container ship from being able to dock at the port according to the original schedule.
“Our crews handled this project with ultimate care and professionalism, and we were honored to have the opportunity to work on this historical project,” Simmons said.
Gas prices stay even in Chattanooga area
Chattanooga gas prices remained stable during the busy Thanksgiving holiday travel week this year despite a slight dip in fuel prices nationwide.
Among 170 local service stations surveyed by Gasbuddy.com, the average price of gas was $1.85 per gallon, unchanged from a week earlier. This compares with the national average that fell 1.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.12 per gallon, GasBuddy said in a report released Monday.
Chattanooga gas prices dropped by 10.4 cents per gallon in the past month but are still 6.3 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago.
GasBuddy oil analysts said that fuel prices typically don’t increase in December, although oil producing nations are trying to curb production to boost prices.
In the past four years, the average price of gas has declined from Dec. 1 to Dec. 31 by 15 cents per gallon.
