Here’s how to make your vote on ballot

If I were on a search committee at a church seeking to find a suitable pastor or youth director, I obviously would not consider Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.

However, the unfortunate and quite different situation we Americans currently face in choosing a president has passed the point in time when we have the opportunity to effectively reject both of them.

Distasteful as we find it, either Clinton or Trump will become our president in about three months. Sometimes, and this is clearly such a time, our duty as citizens requires us to make an unpleasant decision as to which would be less harmful to our country.

Some of us may be tempted to take the Pontius Pilate approach to assuage our conscience or feel better about ourselves by voting for someone who can’t possibly win, or not voting at all. Please don’t shirk your duty to your country in this way.

Consider the future of our country, our Supreme Court appointments, our security and safety, our economy and potential for individual opportunities to succeed, and the kind of America we can leave for our children, their children and future generations.

Thanks for your service as citizens.

Candidates reach new low; vote ‘none’

Just when I thought I had seen the worst of the two presidential candidates, they each went one step lower. The Oct. 9 debate was a disgusting public political pig-sty display that demeaned the election process and the essence of American political life.

Neither of these candidates are worthy to be president. I continue to learn more from each of them about the other than I need or want to know. What I don’t know are their plans for addressing and resolving the internal and external issues facing this country and world.

I was appalled that a couple of commentators attempted to evaluate who won the debate. At least Bob Schieffer, a veteran news commentator, called it like it was. He said in his career he had never seen such a cheap and disgusting presidential debate.

Both of these imposters should have been run off the stage so two clowns could perform. I don’t know who won, but I do know who lost – the American people.

I intend to vote. But I will write in none of the above. If we all did this, we could reclaim dignity and value for the American democratic
process.

Major party choices don’t cut it on Nov. 8

Virtually every large corporation in the U.S. has tax accountants that evaluate decisions and the tax consequences of those decisions. Most small business owners hire tax advisers for the same reason – minimize the tax obligations.

The Left loves Warren Buffet, but every company he is involved with has tax experts.

If you think of both national parties, mostly on the federal level as just one, then it all makes sense. The federal political elites fight to maintain their control/power through huge fundraising or conversely withholding funds i.e., from schools or highway funds.

The federal government has way overstepped its original intent. It’s a broken system, and we the people are stuck with it.

So chill out, light your bong and vote Gary Johnson.
